Smoking for Two with Cletus the Fetus. Smoking mothers is a HUGE peeve of mine. I am tired of seeing children suffer due to their mother's selfish compulsion to poison herself. If you can't quit - GET YOUR DAMN TUBES TIED - don't pollute another baby. Men who let their women smoke while carrying their babies are twerps too! REAL MEN put their foot down and don't purposely bring any children into the world who will suffer. But then again MOST of these women are into surprise whoopsie man trapper pregnancies. Also I have never met the child of a smoking mother who is not a mouth breathing hyper-active moron.

Smoke while pregnant - it is the WHITE TRASH thing to do. There are no excuses. Only those of us who can't wait to get away from the trash who do it.

The La Leche League answer book details that it is BEST for baby if Mom quits. I know the facts. I know from LLL Leader materials that milk supply is diminished, the quality of milk is lower, and it can cause additional fussiness in a baby. Again, babies are BEST with NON SMOKING mothers.

From the American Cancer Society website...(and La Leche League and American Pediatrics)"For most women breast feeding is still the best method of feeding infants. According to The Breast Feeding Answer Book, published by La Leche League International, 'If a mother smokes cigarettes, her baby can still enjoy the benefits of breastfeeding.'" But then again, I get the impression that you aren't all that concerned with facts.

The La Leche League Breast Feeding Answer book states before your chosen snippet that mothers should STOP SMOKING. I attended LLL for three years and not once did we ever encourage a mother to continue smoking. In fact the book and other LLL materials go well into getting yourself help. If you actually think yourself some LLL god go check out the leader support materials about smoking. It details how the milk is diminished, how supply is decreased, and it is still best for baby if Mom stops.

what's the big deal, I honestly cannot see what is wrong with pregnant women smoking, I mean it's their body isn't it, just as in abortion except the kids don't end up dead, just deformed or stupid, and abortion is every woman's right isn't, or am I just a bit out of touch with the "land of the free" ?

Extremely Self-Centered! Because a smoking "mother" does not want go through with drawls her self, her baby will be forced to. Either at birth or if breast feed, they'll suffer when they are weaned. Pretty pathetic. GOOD VIDEO!

LOL I feel the same way. I quit smoking this year and seeing these clips only encourage me to want to start again. Perhaps those birth defects were caused by inbreeding more than smoking.
