to simply and calmly request they go back to the original topic, he had a fit. I can't even begin to express my feelings on him him hitting his mother and then playing it off as nothing. But when she taps him, its a federal crime. I have never struck my grandmother, and she has most certainly spoken to me with a lot more disrespect than I'm seeing with this mother, who is desperate to walk on eggshells to please this child and avoid an argument.

Its not because of the way his mom is, its because of the way he is. He wont take any discipline, he won't realize that he is a child, and should shut up and listen. If she says don't talk, he doesn't have the right to talk. He thinks they're at even ground, when she is above him. Until he realizes that, he will never change.
