Two young Common Kestrels look out of their nest entrance.
This video footage is the first ever taken of young Common Kestrels in the nest in the Maltese Islands.
Common Kestrels nest very rarely in Malta, due without doubt to illegal hunting and disturbance.
In 2009, a pair managed to breed, raising 3 young. This follows a ban on hunting in spring (since 2008) and increased law enforcement. Hopefully, more Kestrels and other birds will breed in the Maltese Islands in the future.
