Markwayne Mullin is an eastern Oklahoma native, successful businessman, and rancher, running to succeed retiring Democratic Rep. Dan Boren in Oklahoma's Second Congressional District. Shortly after Markwayne graduated from Stilwell High School, his dad fell ill and the family's small plumbing company encountered financial troubles. Markwayne was only 20 years old but he and his wife, Christie, took over with only six employees. Through hard work and discipline, Markwayne and Christie not only stabilized Mullin Plumbing, but grew it into the largest plumbing service company in Oklahoma.

The Second Congressional District, which includes the eastern Oklahoma towns of Muskogee and McAlester, is one of 25 pickup opportunities Republicans are targeting across the country this November. The Cook Political Report rates Markwayne's race as "likely Republican."

Brilliant response, Karl. Calling someone a name with no real information is a great way to make friends and influence people. No accountability -- I guess that's one of the privileges of being a liberal. I say more power to Mullin! Washington should be encouraging spending -- and this involves tax cuts at every level including those dirty self-made millionaires.

Good job Mullin. It's good to hear people with commonsense these days instead of personal attacks with little (or zero) factual data to back it up. For example, look at the assumingly liberals on this page calling you names (behind their anonymous keyboards) with ZERO actual coherent responses.

The bottom line is that the US government needs to be flooding the market with as much cash as possible to encourage spending and NOT overburdening any business of any size with taxes and busy work.

Mullin’s plumbing company received $370,000 in stimulus funding, now he bitches about it. He's conservative except where personal profit is concerned. Jobs come from demand, not deficit feeding tax cuts. That's basic economics.

Our country needs jobs, it needs people who know how to create jobs and offer more opportunity to American citizens. The current administration has had four years to make improvements and have failed. It’s time they step aside and let those who understand business, and have a healthy plan to take over.

No one that has a business can disagree with what Mullins is saying.

This is the same embarrassing rhetoric that is so typical in this state. If it costs so much to do business as a "small business owner", why does he continue to do business at all? He makes it sound like it might even be COSTING him money to have his little plumbing business. Is he just doing it for his country? Giving the little guy a job at his own personal cost? None of it makes sense people. This guy can't wait to be one of the next big bloodsuckers on the hill. Don't vote for an idiot!
