http://www.wibigfish.com/index.php Wisconsin Steelhead Fishing Guides

We hooked fish on the ice that were jumping in open water behind us numerous times. The Ice we were on was 12 inches thick and was very solid. We were also next to shore and had safety equipment avalable if need be. It was a blast.

  • @WTHunter771 actually, steelhead are rainbow trout but instead of spending all their life in a stream they spend their life in lakes and spawn in the streams.

  • That fish looks delicious!

  • Been ice fishing since I was able to walk - that isn't 12" haha. Maybe 4-5 or you were catching sharks in the guise of a steelhead?

  • Great video :) I loved it.

Are you guys fishing into a small hole because the fish are actually underneath and have a better chance of catching fish this way as opposed to casting your line out into the open water??? Just asking.

  • well it's fucking exhilirating

  • @chevykid241 no there is also a genetic difference meaning different spieces they may look similar but a steelhead is more of a salmon then a trout and yes i know they are all very close

  • WHAT ice are they standing on!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • Nice

  • I think the ice they're on is most likely a floating chunk that broke off from another area (that was thicker) drifted, and is now up against the Dam. Great idea!

  • Ice fishing rules

  • I believe the "Orange bobber" is used to clean the ice off the line as it gets spooled, like a squeege.? the line is clean from debree and winds on to reel a little less wet preventing freeze up. I also think that you may not be allowed to open water fish during ice fishing season(it has to be thru a hole) or because you cant cast the line into open water because you would be reeling in ice chunks everytime.??

  • There are two types of weather in Wisconsin: Cold and construction. good fishin though
