I've suffered with my calf muscles a lot, partly due to being fairly imobile because of arthritis. I think if you have torn 3 times in 4 months you may need to give a bit longer in terms of recovery, Start with some very simple stretching and don't do anything else until you can stretch without pain/discomfort. Then you can think about starting to do some running etc. but this would need to be built up over time

@kolesidisgiannis you really need to go see a physio, a podiatrist, especially one specialising in biomechanical assessment. Also, if your martial arts training sessions are the cause you may need to stop for a while until you get fixed. 3 times in 4 months, is a lot, and if youre not giving adequate time for the muscle to heal then inevitably will keep 'tearing'. Thats the best advice i can give, from a podiatry perspective.

I have torn my gastrocnemius muscle 3 times in just 4 months. 2 times in the right leg and 1 in the left. It always happens after my martial arts sesssion where a lot of hopping and bouncing on the toes is involved. Now I am so prone to gastrocnemius injury that even doing calf raises leaves a nasty pain and slight walking disability the day after. What do you suggest I do? It's not a flexibility issue, something else is the problem...
