Three Troubling Ways Americans are Maintaining Their Spending
http://www.financialsense.com/node/6799?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=...

"Of all races in an advanced stage of civilization, the American is the least accessible to long views... Always and everywhere in a hurry to get rich, he does not give a thought to remote consequences; he sees only present advantages... He does not remember, he does not feel, he lives in a materialist dream."
—Moiseide Ostrogorski (1902, 302-303)

  • I like your comment on how oil production figures don't account for a future scenario where related stuff has grown by an exponential factor that's higher than, if at all, predicted. Question that follows is evident: do you think any sort of industrial society can be maintained into the future, taking into account the depletion of the entire planet earth, not just her blood? I don't.

  • @DeOndertoon IMHO, the current industrial society cannot be maintained with current population. Some say I want to kill people because I say that. I'm simply stating a fact not something that I hope happens. Peace.

  • Someone tell me why there's 'peak oil' if the US itself has more proven reserves than Saudi arabia. I mean, I know we cant drill for it because of the idiotic anti environmental laws and tree huggers.....but the US does have vast oil and natural gas resources if we could only drill for it. Many many years worth....hence, no peak oil.

  • @robreke I have some info to hopefully answer your question. Its in the links on the Chris Martension peak oil video on my channel: it2VIrtkXac The "vast" oil resource that you are talking about is shale oil. It takes more energy to liberate this oil(in dry form) from the shale than what it produces. The 100 year natural gas commercial by the American Petroleum Institute includes probable, possible and yet to be discovered. Only proven reserves matter, 27 year supply at current production.

  • @robreke The Saudi Reserves are proven and even these are inflated and mentioned in the info area of the video that I mentioned. There is still some conventional oil left the USA at 30 billion barrels. The USA uses 8 billion barrels/year. This oil cannot be extracted all at once as the oil will only flow to the well at a certain rate. The new horizontal drilling methods being used allow for the oil to be extracted faster but the field depletes faster as well.

  • Zeitgeist Addendum Movie is great.

It just worries me that the venus project is in its self A one world governmnet run by a computer.

Does the UNITED NATIONS mean COMMUNISM ?

  • @MrMick73 I know there are some conflicts. I don't like one world government but I like many of the proposals set forth by the Venus project.

  • As far I have researched-The Zeitgeist Movement is the only Group out there that has brought up some Real and Tangible Solutions to ACTUALLY SOLVE OUR ECONOMICAL, SOCIAL & ECOLOGICAL CRISIS - watch "Awakening 1/4" (short video) and "Zeitgeist Addendum" to know more about it. Both of them are on YouTube. The SOLUTIONS presented in both videos are already being applied and they have already been proved to work in the short and long run. It's about time to expand/spread it World Wide.

  • The oil is running out. Period.

  • @jimbobubbadj You said it "the current industrial society". In order for the human race to "survive" but more than survive to prosper together is to create a new "Experiment in Human Sociology", A Post-Scarcity Civilization. With current technologies such as 3d Printing, Vertical Farming, Mega Skyscrapers (ARCOLOGY), Nano Tech, Automation, Robotics, Open-Source Systems, etc. there is no reason why the 7 billion or even 10 billion humans on earth could not live in a "Paradise Like" world.

  • Able-bodied people might be able to innovate and adapt to a non-industrial world, but the old and infirm, I'm afraid, just aren't going to make it.

  • @jimbobubbadj People just don't understand the scale of the problem. Absent some true "free energy" type device, there are no renewables that can meet our current consumption. And cutting down forests to plant corn or switchgrass or whatever would be, well, suicidal. Energy use will have to go way, way down. And even so, we may end up like those Africans who walk miles to find the few remaining pieces of wood to burn. Sad, but it was predictable. People just didn't listen.

  • Get ready for a total economic & structural collapse of the West Coast of America... Comet Elenin or the Blue Star Kachina will destroy West Coast Babylon, because that's what America is. It must be destroyed, & is a harbinger of things to come. This is a prophecy. The Blue Star Kachina has caused the earthquakes in Chile, Christ Church New Zealand, & Japan. All these counries are on the Ring of Fire faultline. We're next here in California. I'm a shaman & I received visions of this.

  • I was placed into a mental hospital for nine months, forced 'medicated', and labeled a schizophrenic for life. This was all for telling the truth. So here it is again, If your christian, peak oil is the judgement by fire, Muslim, the same. If your atheist it is simple physics. This is only denied, through actual and real insanity. To all I say, go and seek all that which has beauty and meaning to you, so that you can remember them when you face what might be the end of your days.

  • @DeOndertoon I dislike stating it but masses of humans are like masses of animals in basic dynamics.

I dislike hunters unless they eat and use the kill, but I will grant them their point that shooting the population is, for absence of predators due to human intervention, healthier that letting it grow out of any sort of control. Translating that idea to humans is impossible.

Only sollution I have is space exploration and fast.

It's that or a lot, lot of dead people, no matter how.

  • @jimbobubbadj No insult intended, but I fear you've been lulled into a defensive corner by aggresive, "politicaly correct" rhetoric. Regardless the argument, one should be allowed to make it. Connotation is just what it is unless meantfully insulting, in which case the argument or the making of the argument are irrelevant anyway.

Fun factor in your point is that it'll happen by itself. And it will be a gruesome to watch and endure process that will be nasty and lenghtily.
