Stan Getz (1927-1991)was an American jazz musician. He is considered one of the greatest tenor saxophone players of all time. Known as "The Sound" because of his warm, lyrical tone, Getz's prime influence was the wispy, mellow tone of his idol, Lester Young.
Trumpet player Donald Byrd (b. 1932) is a bebop player who played with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. He also performed with a wide variety of highly regarded jazz musicians, including John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, and Thelonious Monk. In later years he specialized in jazz fusion, funk and soul.
