Sarah W. Bush

So Sarah Palin is a phenomenon.

She represents the culmination of Karl Rove-style identity politics, and her fans dont care about whether she has experience, expertise or intellectual curiousity. All they know is that they feel her in their guts. Shes got character. Thats all they got — but thats all they need.

You can say that the fact that the country put George W. Bush in office on the basis of his character is a primary reason for all the problems weve had since. Its a reason for the economic meltdown, for the price of gas, for rising unemployment, for the war in Iraq that may never end.

Will we make the same mistake again?
