@hebneh I had friends and relatives staying in Hawaii for studies and vacation back in March and we were very worried about them after hearing about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan on the news and knowing that the waves were only a few hours from hitting Hawaii, we kept in touch with them to make sure they were ok. They told us they saw little to no waves at all but I think they stayed in a different part of Hawaii that was nearly unaffected by the tsunami.
Thanks, Sam, for sharing this video. It has been the best one showing the area we are so familiar with. Our timeshare is just down Ali'i Drive (The Billfisher).
I was here in February a week before the eruption and 2 weeks before the earthquake/tsunami! I actually went inside the shop with the knocked down door. This is mental!
The tsunami on Oahu didn't do anything comparable to this, and so it was assumed there was little damage. In looking at the various videos of Kona, however, I'm seeing that a lot more happened than most of us thought.
And actually, this was not a huge tsunami for Hawaii. Far more damaging ones have occurred in the past.
