  • it sounds good but where is the sound of the sax ?? o.O

  • Maybe he's playing this because... his main instrument... is... A SAXOPHONE!! Are keyboard players the ONLY musicians allowed to use synthesizers? Are guitar players the only ones allowed to use effects? The future of music will not lie with purely acoustic instruments. Please look up "The Art of Noises" by Luigi Russolo.

  • @nohi93 The purpose of electronic music is to create innovative sounds. Why emulate saxophone electronically when you can buy the real thing?

  • Other "Sax"-controllers even dont need blowing, just tapping the "keys". They are dynamic-responsible, here you can play plucky sounds or even drums without any problems. Those controllers have MORE than one way to play. Needs some imagination.

  • Well, the sound he chose is indeed no good idea. It´s hard to control a plucky sound with blowing. Needs a clearly defined start. Blowing is´t clearly defined. There are tons of synth or simulated sounds that would suite much better.

I guess the main problem is brass/wind and even guitarplayers ist that they may have good experience in controlling their intstrument and it´s single way to produce sounds. But never learned to deal or even imagine fundamental different sounds. See the comments.

  • It's not an electric sax, it's a midi wind controller. It has nothing to do with a sax. I can't understand why people use these to try to emulate a saxophone/flute/clarinet/whatever when they can just play the real thing. I wish people would explore the synth sounds on these more. That's when they sound awesome.

  • @stonerh Oh, and the blowing into it controls the velocity of the note (i.e. - how soft/hard the note is) Like, how hard you hit a keyboard key determines the velocity, how hard you blow into this thing determines it.

  • @Kyuutoryuu Well no, it's just a synth controller? I don't get how people can't understand this.. it's a piece of plastic with buttons on it that controls a synth, it just happens to be laid out kinda like a sax, which suits this guy because he clearly plays sax. No, you don't use embouchure, in the same way when you play an electric keyboard there isn't a little hammer hitting a string. This isn't a replacement for a sax, it's just something sax players can use to play synth with..

  • @stonerh yes it does. embouchure has nothing to do with this, hes farting out noises not even related to saxophone's pitches. Besides, he might as well do what hes doing without blowing into it. It's a synthesiser after all.

  • @AlexisMichellePratt but the sound of this has nearly nothing to do with a saxophone

  • a me sembra una chitarra e non un sax

  • guessing its a strings patch..
