Australia vs New Zealand 3rd test 1987/88, Greg Dyer claims a ridiculous catch off McDermott's bowling to dismiss Andrew Jones, inexcusable stuff. I'm sure many of you have heard of this incident but never seen it, well here it is in all its glory.

how is it australian cheating? it would just be the keeper not all of the aussie team, and it was also the umpire that called it.

Thats unbelievable.There are some things the umpire cant see in one fast viewing so getting on the umpires back isnt always the way.For me it`s shame on Greg Dyer for this one.

the dyer catch didnt cost nz the match,umpire dick french did when he turned down a plum lbw danny morrison against mcdermot that was the cheating part of that test we would have won

It's a bit of a furphy that Dyer was sacked over this incident. Dyer stayed the Australian keeper for the remainder of the 1987-88 season, which included 2 more Tests and about 10 ODIs. At the end of the summer, the selectors decided that Dyer wasn't the keeper they wanted long-term and they punted on Healy for the 1988 Pakistan tour. The story about Dyer being sacked for this incident was created a few years later, although, obviously this incident wouldn't have helped his cause.

@inxia38 Yes but some people just believe anything! Most people i speak too say with 1000% confidence that Dyer was told he was sacked at the tea break! Idiots, it was only December 87, had more tests and the whole World Series to play yet!
