THIS WAS ONE OF THE VERY FIRST 78S I EVER BOUGHT, AND IT INFLUENCED ME GREATLY IN COLLECTING BRITISH DANCE BAND MATERIAL.
THIS WAS A SAMPLE DISC OF THE FOUR BIG HITS BY THE FOUR MAIN DANCE BANDS RECORDING FOR DECCA IN 1933. THE SOUND QUALITY OF THIS DISC IS SUPERB, AS IT IS THE FOUR BANDS MASSED TOGETHER PLAYING AS ONE HUGE ORCHESTRA, EACH TAKING THEIR OWN TURNS AT CONDUCTING IT AND INTRODUCING THEIR SIGNATURE TUNE!
(SIGNATURE TUNE ''LISTEN TO THE BAND'')''DON'T BLAME ME'' CONDUCTED BY JACK HYLTON. VOCAL;- PAT O'MALLEY.
(SIGNATURE TUNE ''OH SUZANNAH'') ''ISN'T IT HEAVENLY?'' CONDUCTED BY LEW STONE. VOCAL;- AL BOWLLY.
(SIGNATURE TUNE ''WHISPERING'') ''LAZYBONES'' CONDUCTED BY ROY FOX. VOCAL;- PEGGY DELL.
(SIGNATURE TUNE ''WHEN DAY IS DONE'')
''LET'S CALL IT A DAY'' CONDUCTED BY AMBROSE.
Hi Twiddlybobby, Peggy Dell was my Aunt.

Personally, Pat'OMalley's vocal to "Don't Blame Me" is the last word in performing this song. My first listening to this record. Excellent. Many Thanks.

Of course this recording beats it all, featuring the best bands in one symphonic band suite. This deserves 20 stars, 5 for every orchestra, but I'm afraid we'll have to do with just the five allowed. I suppose this post contains both sides of the record, otherwise it should be a 40 cm broadcast transcript disc.
