I went to the doctor last week and he said I have Carolinian Virtuosi and I replied "Oh Fiddle Faddle". A great performance by one of my favorite American composers.

This is so fun...why aren't these kids smiling???

@stampbdp cuz it's so freakin' fast XD Our orchestra played this, too - a bit slower. And we've enjoyed it a lot.

This is amazing! I have to play the violin part on my clarinet though, which means a whole lot of triplets... Super hard, but wicked fun!

@TheBiggestDorkEver same, our school did it as well

Playing this in the White Mountain Symphony Orchestra in our concert on the 12th. Definitely a fun song to play! :) And the tempo, is quite challenging. Definitely took some good ole practice on the viola to get my part down ;)

great!!

@egrette The tempo of this song is quite literally, "As fast as you can play it."

@sirdagamba The tempo marking is Allegro Vivace or about 138 bpm... they would be allegro or about 112 bpm. So yeah the song a tempo is a bit faster. I would expect the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra to play at tempo but slow it down for the kids, not taking anything away from them. I'll give it to em... they do sound pretty good. The acoustice of the room take away from the recording though.
omg! the high school orchestra is playing this and im in it, and i have only been playing for about 3 years and just to give you a sence on how fast this goes, (if you have a metronome at least) its at 120 tempo, but its at cut timem so that means it is at 240 tempo and it is mostly 8th notes :(

@TheBiggestDorkEver
It is not the end of the world if you have decided to play a little faster or slower than what's marked on the page. It is better to be able to play it while enjoy it. Sometimes many markings including the tempo came from some editors of the publisher not the composer. If everyone can do 160 and plays perfectly after only a few years of study, I don't think there will be any professional orchestras left.

this sounds like something off of tom and jerry

Quite possible. A lot of cartoon shows used Orchestral recording plus some sound effects.

I think a lot of orchestras went over board to play fast and missed a lot of fun things along the way.
