  • great video... makes me question things like authenticity and rapport.... Do our informant/consultants (in anthro) change how they portray themselves to "fit in" to how they want to be seen? Would it just be better to study our own cultures so that people might be more forth coming to a insider who might be less likely to judge the when they are also an insider?

  • this is a good thought to ponder, one that often results in feeling like our work may be pointless @ times...but then i remember that it is the plight of an anthropologist. we seek to learn about others behavior but by our mere presence we automatically mess it all up! EEK! what to do, what to do? but questioning things is good...i just have to remind myself that not fining any answers doesn't mean time has been wasted. if we end up with more questions that may be even better than answers!
