  • This video only spreads the popular misconception that all schizophrenics are a danger to society because of voices telling them to kill others.

This is a horrible illness, and and it is disturbing that anyone in the mental health field would post a video showing the worst of all stereotypes of schizophrenics. This could have been a useful video to enlighten others, that have no knowledge of schizophrenia, without portraying them as a danger to society.

  • This guy needs to get his head out of the DSM and into books written by schizophrenics, like Hannah Weiner's "Spoke." He captured all of the stereotypes and none, not any, of the subtleties of a schizophrenic episode. This video may help people who don't understand schizophrenia, but it would be a disservice to anyone who was hoping to derive greater meaning from the video than basic diagnostic descriptions, which, IMHO, were inaccurately portrayed.

  • I think this is an important step forward for scientists and educators to raising awareness by employing emerging technologies to simulating what perhaps patients experiences. The use of SecondLife as an immersive tool accomplishes this better, more efficiently, and perhaps more cost effective than film production. There are many uses for SecondLife and I fully support the scientific and education communities for exploiting its resources for academic (rather than political or entertainment) use.

  • im 10,000 view :D

  • Peter Yellowlees is a wanker.

  • that's not true. The "voices" are caused by overactivity in the part of the brain the controls sound.

  • crap indeed

  • whats the name of the place in Second LIFE?

  • what a load of bollocks. i have more disturbing thoughts when i'm having a crap, let alone when i'm losing the plot, and i'm bi-polar

  • damn how does a voice do these kind ov things

  • No sorry my fellow Australian, that's just a shitty online game (with bad graphics). The idea that it could even begin to represent the psyche is well worthy of ridicule, and as mentioned earlier, this vid plays into any number of misconceptions and stereotypes.
