But, I should add, no matter what side of the pond you're on, try (for fun) making eggy bread/French toast with cinnamon rolls or cream-cheese-cinnamon Danish for the bread....Yeah, baby.... :P (If you try the cream-cheese-cinnamon Danish, cut the roll horizontally, have the tops facing each other, batter them, and carefully fry; a square pan where you can easily fry the edges to keep the thing together may work the best.)

This is pretty much a global dish with various names depending upon your homeland, and with various creative twists on its preparation. "Eggy bread" is more descriptive of what it is, and "French toast" speaks to a purported style or origin of cuisine.
