  • People make much hay about the 1996 Bulls being the best team ever. Given Kareem was unstoppable by Parish in 1985, I suspect the 1996 Bulls would have no answer to Kareem.

The 1980 Lakers would be an even bigger problem, since Kareem was still in his prime.

  • 1985 Lakers= greatest team ever. The 1st opposing team to win a championship on the Garden Vintage Parquet.

  • It's so irritating that Houston swept the Lakers the very next year because I guarantee you the Celts would hve redeemed themselves and the Magic Bird Finals series would have been 2-2. But, fate has its ways.

  • @coffeecat73...what are you talking about, you fuckin moron...? the 1979-80 Lakers were loaded, too...Jamal Wilkes was a nightmare match up for Dr. J...and Michael Cooper tormented the Philly back court, creating countless turnovers that lead to easy transition baskets for L.A... yeah, Kareem was in his prime, and with the addition of Magic it made them an elite team...but to say the 1979-80 Lakers "weren't all that great", is moronic...

  • lmao 1:15 he said naw im doing my assist

  • @coffeecat73 - Indeed, part of the reason the 86 Celts are so highly regarded, is Walton was healthy. I forget who said "Wilt could score, Russel could [defend?], Walton could do both." Walton did do both in 86.

  • @NameCallingIsWeak , it would be a tough call. Bulls have that tough defense though. Celtics might have trouble running their plays that look so good against teams with avg defense. They would have to beat them on size and inside play. They'd definitely need Walton to be at his best to give them that extra boost. I can see McHale getting doubled alot, getting bottled up alot, and stripped of the ball by the quick hands of Jordan alot. If McHale could just learn to pass, they'd be unstoppable

  • @NameCallingIsWeak - No, I didn't say the Lakers of the 80's only had Magic and Kareem. I said the Lakers of 80 (1980) when Magic was a rookie and won the championship. When I say 80 Lakers I meant the team that won in 1980 was weaker than the team they had in 1985. 1987 Lakers were probably just a touch better than 85, because even though Kareem in 87 wasn't like Kareem in 85 (who played like the Kareem of 1977), Worthy was better, and Scott was better than in 85.

  • @coffeecat73 - 86 Celts and 96 Bulls were matched up by stats, and the 86 celts won. Jordan is the only "better" player they have at any position, and Ainge can hit the spot up jumper when Jordan goes to help against Chief, McHale.

  • @coffeecat73 - 1) Though Kareem had "tailed off" in 1985, he was still Finals MVP. 2) I don't think Magic was ever a bad player or played for a bad team (Jordan did in 84 85 86 and with the Wizards), so saying Magic was not in his prime in 1980 is misleading. 3) Scott was effective in 1985, far more so than in 84. 4) The 80s Magic/Kareem Lakers beat Houston, Philly, Boston, and Detroit. 5) Saying the 80s Lakers had Magic and Kareem only is not true given Worthy was Finals MVP in 88, &a 50 best

  • @NameCallingIsWeak , oh please. the 80 lakers had magic and kareem only, and magic was not in his prime, but in 85 magic was in his prime, but kareem had tailed off, so thats a push, but in 85, they had Worthy too. and in 87 they had Byron Scott. The 80 lakers weren't all that great. 96 bulls couldnt stop Kareem, but they had enough other things going. 86 celtics would easily defeat the 85 lakers in 6 games. 86 celtics vs. 96 bulls, thats the matchup I'd like to see.

  • As much as I respect the 96 Bulls, they would have had fits with both LA and Boston from 1985. While Jordan was unstopable, Luc Longley could not carry Kareem or the Chief's jock strap in a 2 ton truck. I LOVE Magic's dunk on play #2.
