FIFTY@FIFTY-Tracey Jackson talks With 50 People On Being 50: #39 BEN BRADLEE
BEN BRADLEE (who turns 90 this month) is an important icon in the American historical landscape, and is a vice president at-large of The Washington Post. As executive editor of the Post from 1968 to 1991, he became a national figure during the presidency of Richard Nixon, when he challenged the federal government over the right to publish the Pentagon Papers and oversaw the publication of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein's stories documenting the Watergate scandal.
Today he still works and goes into the office (when in Washington...also-the Bradlees also have a home in East Hampton-the original GREY GARDENS home-which they restored), stays active, and secretly admits to having lots of young friends. Bradlee has lived a great life filled with good values, and like his Mother and Father...not been afraid of 'hard work.' He believes that 'luck' is a matter of making the right choices...(should you get lucky to get a good break).
