Diffusion Rap

A fun video for my biology lab final. Actual rap starts about 1:05.
Don't judge too much, it was kind of a last minute production :).


Lyrics:
​D​iffusion is the natural movement of molecules
​to areas with smaller concentrations of the same particles.
This is why gas is seen expanding,
rather than just staying there standing.

Diffusion and osmosis are two of the same
only osmosis deals with water over a membrane.
If you drop a raisin in a water glass,
in the fruit a large water volume will amass.

As the name "selectively permeable" membrane would imply,
only certain molecules are allowed to pass by.
T​he plasma membrane aways allows water in,
otherwise the cell would become too thin.

I​f diffusion has spread the concentration out
equilibrium's been reached, without a doubt.
An example of this would be
w​hen the gas in a tank is covering the volume evenly.

One form of diffusion is a hypotonic solution
where concentration is greater in the cell's outer constitution.
Plant cells maintain this situation
as they rely on the incoming water as their salvation.

I​n hypertonic solutions, diffusion can also be found
​where concentration is greater inside than in what surrounds.
These solutions can be found as energy drinks for sports,
where the high carbohydrate concentration increases energy of sorts.

D​iffusion does not occur in an isotonic solution
​as concentration has reached an even distribution.
When mixing blood and saline it is harmonic
that the solution is almost isotonic.
