  • Vagos this trisagion is known as "ferahnak", a maqam name that could be better described in terms of modes as "fthorikos agia" or "agia-varys" rather than third mode.

  • @tryfwn

Thank-you. I couldn't figure out what tone exactly it was. It sounds like third tone on GA which corrupts in first tone on KE and then corrupts into Grave Tone on low ZO. Therefore from what you are saying "Fthorikos-Agia" or "Agia-Varys" then this shoud be 4th Tone. I would have never even figured that out.

  • Thank-you. I asked a few people before I posted what tone it was and they couldn't figure what branch of 4th Tone it was. So I just posted 3rd Tone, because I wasn't sure. God Bless. I will change it to 4th Tone Ferahnak (Fthorikos Agia)

  • Not really very good intepretation by Mr. N. Papanikolaos...

Mr T. Stanitsas wrote the Hymn in the "ferahnak maqam".

Mr P. Kiltzanidis calls this maqam as "Varys fthorikos mode" in his Theoretic Book. And the base tone is Zw diatonic.

Mr C. Taliadwros or Mr. A. Karamanis (I'm not sure who of 'em) rewrote the Hymn in 4th Mode Agia fthorikos with starting base tone Di.

More correct name is for sure the "ferahnak maqam".

  • To my ear there are several parts that sounds more like Plagal 4th - which makes sense when you think about how it should be related to 4th tone (Pl. 4th is more related to 4th Tone Agia than Legetos) but the score is undoubted loaded with sharps, flats and other pthorae and then modulates to Diatonic Barys.

  • is made by Thrasivoulos Stanitsa in Aghia and some of the psaltes are finising it in di back and they are not going into zo varis

  • cea mai frumoasa muzica cea bizantina

  • I wish I knew Greek...

  • υπεροχος υμνος. αψογη εκτελεση!!!

    5*****

  • This is not Agia??? i think is not in third mode ... :-??
