This makes me think of my sixth grade school pageant in 1959. I was part of the angel choir and can still remember the homemade white gowns, the halos (mine has slipped a bit) and the wings. This is a beautiful video and very interesting to hear the English version. Until I saw this, I didn't know there was one. Thanks for educating us. Love it!

It's a little similar to Once in Royal David's City, though. I sometimes get them a bit mixed up. You can actually medley those two very easily and it sounds lovely.

@katokowgirl I AGREE, i saw him in concert 25.11.2010, superb artist

@skypilot87uk This version is a melody called "Forest Green" by Ralph Vaugn Williams, an English composer, with the lyrics adapted to fit the melody. The version you probably know best is a melody by Lewis Redner called "St. Louis". Both have the same lyrics.

is this the same tune as " God rest ye merry gentlemen?"

@BerryCherry0407 Sorry no, "God rest ye merry gentlemen" is a totally different tune altogether..

@thefaceoftom All it says on the album is; Traditional English arranged by Robert Prizeman. Robert of course is the founder of the boys choir Libera.

@skypilot87uk this is the version I grew up with in the UK, culture shock when I had to sing it for the first time in Christmas assembly after moving to Canada (just stopping and looking around thinking 'we're singing O Little Town of Bethlehem right?' and proceeding to stand here looking stupid lol!). Is not the only Carol sand to a different tune, though the other escapes me at the moment. Will post when it comes to me.
So my answer is English version and Americanized version.
