In Bangladesh, 3.5 million people fall victim to Monga, a seasonal famine that affects the northwestern flood plains, every year. Without the weekly rations provided by the World Food Programme, many would face starvation. The UN agency has been providing food aid to the area since 1975, but this is about to change. In a matter of months, 60 per cent of its relief operations will be dropped. The countrys WFP budget is being cut in half due to a lack of funding from Western donors. Al Jazeera's Nicolas Haque reports from Gaibanda.
