  • @saglek: No need for extending anything. I clearly stated "so long as they can do so without interfering with the rights off others".

And that's simply not true. I for example used to have an incredibly violent temper until I first tried marijuana. After that it was like the people I encountered got a freebie, whereas before I would've simply pummeled them.

  • @PooPoo2U

Extend the proviso to doing one's job as one is supposed to, so that others don't have to take up the slack or cover for one, then ABSOLUTELY.

I'd even go so far, and do go so far, as to call for legalization of many drugs so that their quality and dose can be regulated, ie. the user knows exactly what they are getting.

Use the funds to educate any potential users as to effects and side-effects.

That said, negative mentality is seldom improved by use or abuse of "drugs".

  • @saglek: Not everyone who uses experiences any negativity. People have free wills all of their own and should be allowed to do as they please, so long as they can do so without interfering with the rights of others. I say if someone can get through the day and use drugs without hurting anyone else, more power to them.

  • @PooPoo2U

Agreed, and I allude to that in my final sentence. I know of friends who use "drugs" all the time, some of them doing better than me, in my opinion. In his case, a double whammy of negative.

Still don't advocate using "recreational" mood or personality enhancers, and not even prescription if it can be avoided. If there is a negative in one's personality or attitude, try some other means of identifying its source and managing it.

    Just one opinion.

  • @saglek: Life derailed by substance abuse? That's just silly. I'll let you in on a secret: alot of upstanding and decent people with perfectly normal lives are on drugs. Even with recreational drug users the drugs don't derail your life. Quite the contrary actually, as people whose lives are already derailed sometimes turn to drugs.

Not everyone who uses drugs lives a "derailed life", the same way that not everyone with a "derailed life" uses drugs.

  • The chick who plays the mother... Isn't she in Fried Green Tomatoes?

  • if anyone hit my mother id take a gun and shoot them in the head

  • @saglek ---Excuse me....BUT,..YES,You most certainly ARE PREACHING. Reminds me of people who say,..."I don't mean to interrupt...." and then do.This kid had problems looks like, people who "do" drugs consistently, usually do.I think that his life was derailed by something, what? I don't know. But the "drugs" are a sign.Too bad. When I was young 20's I did every drug in the book.It was the 60's !!! Today my only drug is "LIFE".Now I'm told I have one year to enjoy it,for in 2012 the world will end.

  • @billy1212ist

A life derailed by substance abuse. He died of an overdose.

Google him for more detail, and choose to get high on life rather than drugs (including alcohol). No, I am not preaching, but a little often leads to a lot, and every bit of it takes one away from who one really is - which, in many instances, is why the substances are chosen in the first place, admittedly.

  • @saglek .What happened to him? 25 1/2 years young?
