  • Propaganda! We bombed Tokyo! We took out factories that were making war materiel. We destroyed their invincible mind set and made their emperor/god a liar. We proved that a B25 could launch off of an aircraft carriers short runway with a full payload during rough seas. We proved to our military and citizens that we could win after continual defeat up to this time. Is that action enough?!

  • @calicheSCOT NOPE. we reached out and touched him when he least exspected it and KILLED him with navy seals!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHA

  • @TxTechRox123 Unless your Osama Bin Laden.

  • WTF, just out fishing and this bloody big ship just blew me up

  • @fidan2fast

Obviously, Midway was a far greater achievement than Doolittle's raid. But the raid served a purpose.

  • @ChrisY2JJ still not an achievement...

I consider Midway an achievement, not this, like I said in my previous comment, just a propaganda!

  • @fidan2fast Not only was the purpose of the raid to boost American morale, but it was to strike a psychological blow on the Japanese. The Japanese public had been told that their home islands were immune from attack, but this raid obviously disproved that.

  • I don't get how this was a big achievement for america in general, the only thing it did was making the americans who don't have a clue what war is like, that they avenged pearl harbor just by hitting japanese ground! It only contributed to american propaganda

This wasn't a reason for winning the war, or showing power, it was just a propaganda to please the people back at their homes

don't get me wrong, I still have respect for Doolitle and all these brave men, only americans can do these stuff

  • I remember a painting of the launch, where the B25s were actually painted in Japanese markings. saw that in an old American Legion magazine article about the raid.

  • this was the first air raid on japan.

The last one had a little more"bang for the buck".
