this is to my understanding of music to this day as a professional musician the best recording for this and all the other beethoven piano concerti.

I wonder if there is a very great tension between the "structural hierarchy" and the "democratic concept of art" - according to the text - of this piece. As I see on the one hand the whole choir and orchestra play as a "mere extension" of the pianist (The ideal Artist), as they were only his elongated arms. But on the other there is Beethoven's well known revolutionary attitude and sarcasm towards authority. This inner-and-outer splendour is a core idea from Kant to Thomas Mann and Mahler...
