@quicksilverwade The Tangipahoa and the Houma tribes, that's who. If you don't know or understand how native Americans and Africans united in New Orleans, shut up and learn something. Natives gave runaway slaves shelter and membership into their tribes through intermarrying, etc. This tradition is at least 200 years old.

This is very important part of Louisiana Creole culture and American History. This is especially important to me because I have creole lineage from New Orleans. I hope and pray that the Mardi Gras Indians tradition is kept alive.

@quicksilverwade - learn the story behind these tribe before u make that stupid ass comment. simply, these cats do this to honor the indians that took there ancestors in years ago. New Orleans man we filled with a blend of Italian spanish french german irish caribbean african and indian. ima 1/4 Chitimacha, but u got natchez, houma, choctaw, atakapa, caddo. scattered over Louisiana podna. so relax.
