@edwardjames50 Three fundamental and irrevocable rules of the universe- Marx was shit. Marxism is shit. Marxists are shit. People who defend Marxists are also shit.
To the poster: Do you know who the woman is who is narrating? Her voice is familiar, but I can't place who she is, and it's driving me to distraction.
@MSPEL ~ And Kazan remained controversial for the rest of his life because of his cowardice. Since when, in this great nation, are we obliged to publicly reveal our political beliefs and affiliations?
@emochuu I did read your above comment. The Rosenburgs were executed because they were guilty of espionage and refused to cooperate with the U.S. in any way, shape or form. Steinbeck, Kazan, and others were not lying. Whitaker chambers, who by his own admission, was a commie spy, was given a deal because he gave a full disclosure of what he had done.
@MSPEL You obviously didnt read my above comment. Why should they cooperate with a committee trying to root out liberalism, they have First Amendment rights to freedom of speech. You either said "Yes I was a commie, I was young and foolish" and nark on other "Communists" (basically you lie your way out of jail) and carry on with life, or you stood up for your beliefs. Ever heard of the Rosenbergs?? These guys had legitimate fears- they might be killed for being "spies".
@emochuu These scumbags were not on trial for being commies. They were on trial for refusing to cooperate with HUAC. People like Eli Kazan and John Steinbeck who went before the committee and told the truth did not go to jail.
@playsetman Oh gosh. Were to begin. Don't you think what makes America better than say, Communist Russia, was individual freedom? Including freedom of expression? If some movie director who joined the Communist party as an 18 year old kid and left it a few years later, makes a movie with left wing sympathies, is he evil? Is he trying to destory the US? Isn't banning him from working EXACTLY what Stalin would have done? Isn't America better than that?
@addiefleur You must not know much about Cuba if you think it's "fucked up".

@MSPEL You should go to a doctor and have that bigotry removed. It's looking pretty bad.
