The Midwest Bikers Christmas Run began at the South Court Hotel at 10 am on Dec 6 at 10am,on a cold frosty morning - 2 degrees c a great turnout all for a good cause to help others.Reminder that this coming Saturday ( 6TH December the Annual Toy Run takes place, Check-in open at 10 am Sharp in The South Court Hotel, Limerick.

These are the Contents from an Email I received during the week from Kieran McCarthy a Midwest Bikers stalwart.

It is 10 .15 am when I arrive at the Southcourt Hotel in Limerick City, it is a cold frosty morning -2 degrees Celsius one has to drive slowly. As I turn the corner off the main road for the hotel I see many bikes are lined up in the Hotel car park side by side. There is every make available Suzuki, BMWS and of course the Harleys. Its owners are signing in for Elaine Barry her husband Willie (Santa for life its members say!) has been a driving force behind this annual event which is now in its fifth year. Texts are sounding consistently in Kieran McCarthys mobile phone, the departure for Adare the first port of call of the day to visit an old folks home is delayed to allow its members time to arrive safely because of the adverse weather conditions .It is cold very cold to be standing around so much so that the cups of tea and coffee are used as heating devices to warm the hands.

Collen Dalton and the rest of Enable Ireland Crew arrive to prepare the Conference Hall for the large attendance, over 140 families will attend from all over the Limerick City and County . The Midwest Bikers are scheduled to arrive back at the Southcourt for 3pm,before that everyone is treated to Dance and Music ,Tigger and Pooh Bear arrive to tumultuous applause ,Mrs. Claus and her daughter Bernadette arrive early to make sure all is in order for Santa.

The conference hall empties when information filters through that Santa is arriving. Santa is escorted into the Southcourt Hotel car park by the Midwest Bikers vroom vroom is all one hears, there is great excitement Santa is basically mobbed. Flash Cameras and videos are all at the ready. Santa eventually wades through the masses and makes his way on to the stage with Mrs. Claus and the Elves and then on to his grotto to hand over the presents to the children. A Great day, great occasion all due to the hard work put in by all the organizers. A very special day for all those children with disabilities both under 6s and over 6s made possible by people giving up their time for to cater for those with Special Needs.
