Im suprised they don't talk about Jack more when they talk about Dylans early days. Scorsese didn't mention him at all in the documentary he made a few yrs back. I got Jack to sign a beer coaster once in New Hampshire, its one of my prize possesions. What a great show he put on! I love this dude. I heard Mick Jagger was on a field trip 2 london with school and saw R Jack playing on the sidewalk, supposedly it had a big effect on him

Reading a book right now,
Woody, Cisco, and Me
written by Jim Longhi about how the three of them
(Woody Guthrie, Cisco Houston, and the author) shipped out with the Merchant Marines during World War II, shipped out as messmen (waiters, basically). They used to raise the morale of the men by playing music. On one trip they brought soldiers to Normandy, after D-Day. This song would have dated back to those experiences. Check out the book!

Wow, I envy his flatpicking ease incredibly. Makes it all look so easy.
Bob Dylan said that on the cover of Elliott's albums it looked like his eyes were saying something. I can that here.

for years it was said Bob Dylan was trying to imitate Jack Elliott. Of course as time went by Dylan showed he was truly one of a kind.

Just one heck of a decent human being, so down to earth. Mr. Elliott seems like a long time friend when just meeting for the first time.
Hope his new hip is working out okay.
Looking forward to hearing him again at the Second Annual Paso Digital Film Festivel to be held Nov. 20-25 2009
