No idea why I've been into children's songs and lullabies for a couple of months already ... any psychiatrist watching *haha*.
Anyway, Springsteen recorded this for his Human Touch album. Personally I think the album is ...errr ... well ... don't say nothing if you ain't got sth nice to say ...
However, he did a version of this song with his wife doing back vocals and it's a sweet version of this song.
I'm member of the UTube group called "E Street" check the videos there.

  • fabulous version of a brill song - i love springsteen's human touch album

  • @pel1971 Thank you!

  • dudw thats not a kids song at all..i remember that when i was young! although my mamma sang it...just meANS SHE WANTED ME TO LOVE THE RODEO!

  • @TheCountygrl OK, might, then let me correct my description: The Springsteen version I know is a sort of lullaby

  • Is there any chance to get the tablature, with the arpeges ?

    Thank you

  • @asphaltenoire I'm really sorry, I would give you the tabs, but I don't have any, I never use them but try to figure out how to do it myself, which fairly often doesn't work. In this case I can terll you that Bruce plays it in E, as far as I remember.

So you should start with Capo on 4th fret and play C, F and G, which with capo are, of course, E, A and B. Hope that helps. PS: The arpeggi are very similar to many of those on Nebraska

  • サンキュー!

  • Good job man.

  • Found this while searching for "Pony Boy" lyrics. Great rendition although version is slightly different than I remember. My grandfather used to sing this to me while bouncing on his knee -- and I'm 64. What I remember the most was that he would straighten his leg so I would slide down it whenever he came to the word "whoa". I've continued the tradition with my grandson and he loves it.

  • Hey, i commented a few years back, telling you about how it was in my childhood. Well, recently had my mum pass, to find my self looking for this song to put on during the wake. Your version put a tear in everyones eyes! Thank you soo much. I never did get around to taking it off the internet :)

  • I can go even farther back - my mom sang this to me when I was little, and I was born in 1959. Really nice rendition, bentonio,

  • Always a pleasure - I have heard this song since I was a child and NO ONE does it better! Thanks again for another pleasurable moment!
