Inaugural poet Elizabeth Alexander reads "Praise Song for the Day" during her visit to Emory University on February 11, 2009.
Alexander delivered her inaugural poem before an assembled crowd of more than a million people during the inaugural ceremonies. "This will be her first public appearance since being on the presidential dais," says Kevin Young, award-winning poet and curator of literary collections and the Raymond Danowski Poetry Library at Emory's Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library.

Thank you for posting this. What a joy to hear this again !
Yes, the poem belongs to the day...but it is such a powerful poem ...with words and images that we all need to hear, see and connect with ...and ponder upon.
