Magnesium can be made to burn in dry ice (solid carbon dioxide). I do this demonstration to show students how difficult it can be to put out metal fires. This was a repeat attempt because I had several failed attempts the day before (I believe because the magnesium had oxidized too much already, or because I was having trouble getting a good seal between blocks of dry ice.
