Thanks Todd. Well, I'm out to try to find a good practice tool. Something that was more reliable and sounds better than the Tascam (from a few I've read, most user comments are vary favourable.) but I like the idea of Tascams unit as a mini bass amp: ie: plug your bass in and practice under a tree in the backyard.
What makes your product different from "The Amazing Slower Downer"?

yes, but you have to drag a laptop around, with less soundcard quality and a set of microphones. The dr-1 has all that in a little device.

But if you don't have an Ipod or MP3 player already... the costs are about the same. The underwater comment brings up concerns of the sound quality of the Tascam BT1 though...
And you can't plug your bass into your Mp3 player and play along, nor can you cancel or accentuate the bass line of a song for play-along and/or learning.

@Merlin97 - We don't agree. Even if you don't have an mp3 player or Ipod, you can burn a CD on your computer. The point being that you can make the changes to a Song PERMANENT when using Song Surgeon, you cannot do that in a Tascam.

Actually you don't. Once you have made your practice segment and let's say you have slowed it down to 50%. Then you can save it and put in on an Ipod or Mp3 player and take it with you.
