  • That's not so good, was the promotion not enough? Also how is the interest in old time JA music in Japan these days?

  • Yes..I could not do enough promotion ot this event, because Rock A Shacka team is now very busyto the preparation of next release.

In Japan Dancehall Reggae market is getting huge, but old Jamaican music scene is still minority.

We Rock A Shacka team keep doing more effort to evangelize old Jamaican music not only to Japan but also to the world!!

  • So how was the dance?

  • In this time unfortunately few people came, but the selection was really hot!!

  • Hi PrinceAndrew100

    Thank you for leaving massage.

The tune is called Jamaica Underground

    by Sound Dimension.

Only 7inch was released from Studio One.

This tune is adapted from Memphis Underground

    by Herbie Mann.

    Big Respect.

  • nice !!!!!!!!big up

  • The third band was a new band called the Moon Hops who play pure Rock Steady like they invented it and are ready for the world. Also myself and another selecter played top tunes between the bands. When the video comes out you'll have to check it, pure history dance like no other.

  • They were great and played original tunes from back in those times. Also mixing for the Caribs was Graeme Goodel the oiginal dub master that cut all the tunes in JA from late fifties to 66 and then set up Dr Bird and Pyramid label in UK.

  • Also on that night was the last remaining members of the Australian band that played in Jamaica in the late 50's early 60's called the Caribs which featured original Australian members Denis Sindry, Peter Stoddard and Lowell Morris from the I cover the Waterfront Jazz album from Studio One. It was the first time these guys had played as the Caribs in 46 years!

  • Nuff respect for that nekomassive. Rocka Shacka release the best old tunes for true. You might of been interested in a dance that took place in Melbourne Australia the night after yours. It was led by the Melbourne Ska Orchestra that plays once a year which features no less than 30 people including a 20 plus horn section and as far as ska goes they are on point.

  • Nuff respect nekomassive , thanks for the info. Wickid tune!!!
