Julie Andrews singing Edelweiss, from the 1995 PBS Telecast of Some Enchanted Evening, Celebrating Oscar Hammerstein II. Copyright credit to PBS and Great Performances. Hence this special was only aired ONCE in 1995, this might give PBS/WGBH an incentive to print this and other rare television specials

  • I love during the bridge, Julie humming.. listen for it.. her smile at the very end is just so beautiful!

  • As far as I know, Julie only performed two numbers that evening. Cockeyed Optimist (for which I missed the start of the song) and of course this one, and yes that is James Barbour.

  • Over Thanksgiving, I had the honor of being kicked out of my house to share a room with my cousin at The Hammerstein House. The house is beautiful, each room a different theme... I never wanted to leave and return to my home, only 10 minutes away. I can't wait to return next Thanksgiving... so much magic and music...

  • such a simple tune - yet so lovely Ros Bisset

  • I almost start crying now thinking about how we'll never here that singing voice again. But at least we still have her great talent as a performer.
