Otherwise known in Japan as "Super Hockey '94". I've spent the last four days on this on and off, which is unusual, since I can usually finish sequences within a few hours. It doesn't even seem that tricky on face value, but it was a real pain in the neck, couldn't fit it all into 16 channels without patch change craziness, plus the general level of detail - and I'm still not even happy with it. gah. Great music though, by Hayato Matsuo (松尾早人), one of my favourite musicians, as some of you will know! Most of his music is a real pain to try and transcribe due to how technically-oriented it is... and that's probably why this is the first track of his I've attempted. Would love to do some Syvalion or Sword Maniac tunes in future though.

Another thing: the game credits list H.MATSUO and YMOH.S (Hitoshi Sakimoto) for the music - however Sakimoto clarifies on his cocoebiz site that he only did the sound programming. The same is true for both "Classic Road" games.

Enjoy!

  • Blitz, do you have a Nico account? If you would like to try Sword Maniac, you definitely should listen to his arrange album of this game. The original media was published with cassette! sm3042319 , sm3430040

  • @ifurkend yeah i've got copies of both sword maniac and syvalion arrange albums. they're brilliant, i love both of them. actually that's the reason why i probably wouldn't sequence something from sword maniac - it seems like the songs in the game are reductions from the extended tracks on the album, rather than the album tracks being extended from the game. that, and... it'd be a headache trying to cover those in midi :B

  • This track is great. Love all the chord modulations and the overall fun overtone. Sword Maniac has some good tunes as well.

  • sword maniac has some of my favourite stuff (sakimoto kicks ass on that too). also syvalion (SNES), and let's smash (N64). really good soundtracks. i must sequence more music of his.

  • Amazing song, great composition and very catchy.

  • @goniochromism Yeah, I agree with you. The in-game version sounds unfairly ...substandard. If I'm gonna transcribe any music from Sword Manics, it would be "Brave Fencer", so you don't need to bother with the non-GM synth and sfx ~_,~||| But "Start on Attack!!" is still a worthy candidate, the synth solo of the 2nd half is just sublime.

  • Wow

    nice!

  • It looks almost like a city horizon at night with semi-fitting music! :D

  • Bravo, mon amigo! *claps*

  • I absolutely love it, you may be the most talented musician I have ever heard. Would you you be able to provide a link to the MIDI file?
