There's a lot of talk right now about the social network wars. Google Plus is better than Facebook. I'm not leaving Facebook, I have what I need right here. There are also many social networks that aren't participating in the "war" directly. They are simply out there offering an alternative to the mainstream sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIN, and now the latest, Google plus. People on Google Plus are saying they like it better than Facebook. People on Facebook are saying they might want to switch to Google Plus because they don't like the changes Facebook is making. Then people are saying they have no reason to switch and then there are those who are threatening to leave this all alone, close their accounts and go back to a "simple" life! Bye and good luck with that. It's sort of like saying I am going to leave the future because I don't like it, instead of saying, "my future is mine and I am going to make it the best experience I can have." Like it or not, social media has become and will continue to be a HUGE part of how we communicate with one another.
So what is the right answer for YOU?

Why do I want to share all of this with the world of online strangers?? I understand using these networks as business tools and occasionally to find lost friends (though personally most I'm out of touch with was and still is a choice, lol.) I still prefer to be voice to voice and face to face. I find this new timeline to be a potential time zapper for those who will choose to write their life story instead of living it.

@melissagalt You only share your timeline with the people you choose to share it with. One of hte great things about timeline is that with each individual post you can choose to make it public or only share it with a particular list. If I am not your "friend" on Facebook and you have set something to be shared only with your friends then I won't see it.
Of course I still caution everybody to realize that anything you ever put out there can potentially be accessed!

@melissagalt Also with all of the new sharing apps coming out that are so easy to use on your smart phones, I think that this is not so much going the route of "writing" anything as it is going the route of images and video. It is getting so easy now to shoot a short video and say "hey look I'm in Disneyland.." and post that to your timeline.
