Follow me on Google+ https://plus.google.com/105995653455527971687/posts I've been studying (or perhaps I should say "struggling with") the works of Erik Satie recently who has always been one of my favourite composers. This is my arrangement of "Gnossienne No.1" recorded using classical and electric guitar, bass and soft synths. For the video I thought it would be nice to do a slideshow of some local winter scenes I took recently.

  • Satie has been maligned by many as not being a "true" classical composer (whatever that means). All I know is his music can cut quicker to the emotion than any other. With seemingly simplistic composition, he manages to find a musical space no-one had discovered before. You have greatly enhanced this piece! The additional instruments heighten its ominous nature. Like a slow walk to a place we don't wish to go to, this piece is beautifully frightening! More, please. Perfect images, too! ~Jon

  • @FlyingHorseKnuckles Thanks for that Jon that's a big compliment to say I "enhanced" it! :)) "Beautifully frightening" is a wonderful description. Satie has been a hero of mine for many years and I've always wanted to record some of his work. I certainly plan to do more.

  • Stunning musical and visual production!

  • I'm so glad you made a video and let everybody hear this masterpiece in your wonderful rendition. I'd only knew the Gnosiennes but you motivated me to discover more of Satie's pieces and I'm loving them so much! so I really hope you will do more and create a wonderful Satie collection. Fantastic recording and pictures!
