  • when taking off from st maarten why does the first officer help the pilot hold the throttle down

  • @sfdguy1 well that's standard procedure when taking of. so they do that al the time at al airports

  • I'm working at Viking Air Ltd. right now, which is the company that now holds the type certificate for the DHC-1 through 7 aircraft, including the twin otter. We make the Twin Otter Series 400. Anyone have any questions?

  • @EpicTask yes I have a question! are you looking for pilots! Because I would love to work in a Twin Otter ;)

  • is that the throttle on the overhead?

  • @pilotdynan it's for safty incease the pilot of copilot gets sick someone is still holding the throttle

  • @NeverGiveUp8080 thanks that does help

  • @EpicTask What are the main differences between the T/O Series 300 and T/O series 400 that has been made by Viking Air? I know the panels are glass cockpit but is there any performance improvements made? any passenger/payload improvements made? T/O is such a beautiful plane and I grew up seeing T/O flying around my place. My school and kindergarten is right next to a airstrip where T/O lands & take-off everyday..I love it..

  • @sfdguy1 from a pilot's point of view, the reason why First officer helped the Captain on the throttle is because that they both are ready to anticipate any emergency during take-off (where it is one of the highly risky part of a flight)...if any one of the engine fails, either the captain or the first officer can do the emergency procedures while the other can still continue flying & controlling the plane. I hope that helps you mate~! :)

    Cheers!

  • LHS being instructed on final?
