Winchester makes a 110gr JHP .357mag that is easy to shoot out of the 605. They come in a white box and are sold at Walmart. Recoil is light but they have considerably more power than the .38+p.

I was wandering is it normal to have shells stick inside the cylender after firing? I just got a new gun , A Taurus 617 357 magnum 7 shot and after every reload. I have to use a rod from the front to punch out the shells. Will this eventually stop, or is there something wrong with the gun? Any info would be appreciated. I was using 158 grain

@Vredh You should check out andreleger2001's videos he does bullet expansion tests and he just started doing them for .357 snub nose revolers. The bullets actually expand quite well in the tests he does.

The expansion might not be as great but the depth of penetration is still 12 inches ( I believe). Getting hit with the .357 will not make a bad guys day worth living. I am using 158 grain JHPs. Made by RAM , a New Factory Ammo company here in Kansas. Comparable to Speer but about 5 dollars cheaper a box of 50. If you are looking for ammo then check them out and you might like what they have and prices. They are ou tof Hillsboro Kansas. They are not reloads.

Why did you get rid of it in search of a S&W of the same variety?
Problems?

cool vid except it looks like you are kind of exaggerating the recoil.
Comprable S&W revolvers are about twice as much.
I have a Taurus 605, he's not exaggerating the recoil. With .357, it kickes like a shotgun.
It will also take .38 special, but they have less power than a 9mm, even though they're longer. (less powder.)
The Taurus 605 is an AWESOME gun. I bought mine for 300 bucks almost new at a gun show.
Get speedloaders and a pouch and holster if you get it.
Practice using the speedloaders.

I had 2 or 3 HKS Speedloaders that wouldn't fully seat with the original sub-comp grips or the Hogue wrap-around grips.
It was very manageable with +P .38 Special loads, but .357 just had a nasty bite. Also given the fact that most .357 loads out of a snubbie will not expand reliably, I am opting for something with a slightly longer barrel.
I ran some Cor-Bon DPX .357 through it and all I recovered expanded very well.
I do miss it just a bit, especially given the price I paid!

Not exaggerating, just trying to roll with it. I no longer have this pistol, but I'm looking for a S&W of the same size. She was a beast.
