Depends....You may want to click when the sock touches the washer and I may be clicking for head turning towards the washer with the sock in mouth. It all depends on what the trainer is wanting to pinpoint.

wow, clicker training has worked well for you. My lab is 2 years old. Maybe .I will try it. How do you ween off of the clicker.

Very easily! It is just for the initial training process, at least for me it is. Once the dog knows the behavior and is doing it reliably you don't need it anymore. It is just a training/communication tool. So once Crash is doing the laundry behavior successfully I will stop with the clicker. Now if he messes up or seems to forget the behavior chain I can go back with the clicker and re-teach it.
