the idea: lady as icon: original watercolor and gouache paintings based on slides purchased from eBay, images found on the web, etc. I'm interested in the truth and beauty these images reveal. some ladies blend into their landscape. some ladies ARE the landscape. I continue to discover all the things a "lady" means--I paint them because I think they're beautiful or sad or revealing in another way. Not woman--but "lady," which transforms to "our lady of" and "goddess." Even self-portraits. -cms
ps. i call ladies without faces "monsters."
