absolutely F*"*"*G Brillaint by far the most under rated band ever to come out of this dear green isle

Paul Cleary's single released after The Blades regretable break up called 'Dublin City Town' had a live version of 'Revelations of Heartbreak' on the b-side. Its faster and no brass, but lead guitar instead, sounds excellent, the crowd think so too recorded in Mountjoy Gaol

Top tune !brings back the heady days of scooter rallys in the late 90's

have to agree with you my man on all you have said here, the blades definitely up there with the jam and mr cleary undoubtbly the irish mod father

The Blades, considered Irelands answer to The Jam, displaying similar roots and influiences (Northern Soul/Motown, 60's RnB, Power Pop, wrapped up in the post punk/new wave of late seventies) The Blades worked hard and gigged alot but with the fizzling-out of the Mod revival by '82 sceemed to struggle a bit with their identity (like UK's The Chords, Secret Affair) with all the mullet wearing synth crap in the charts of the 80's the mainstream public/press forgot The Blades(big mistake)

What a band criminally overlooked outside Ireland...god takes me back to Vespa runs from finglas (avoiding rocks and deliberate car side swipes) all the way to the Eamonn Andrew TV studio for Mod all-nighters topped off by a Blades gig......they blew the Jam outta water

Sometimes the cream doesn't rise to the top. Mr Cleary is the master of the three minute pop song and it's unfortunate that our generation didn't have enough power/money to take him and the band to the next level. Last TV Club gig was one of the best ever. Vicar Street reunion showed they hadn't lost it. One more for the road l
