Coney Island is safe???? You must be one of those people that would buy the Brooklyn Bridge. The politicians and developers are hand in hand working to destroy anything that "They" (people that never come out to Coney unless they're sucking up for votes) touch. Just look what's happening out there now. A company that was brought in to put rides back in Astroland's lot has been given the right to throw out mom and pop buniess's from their places on the boardwalk.
DEVELOPE = DESTROY C.I.

at least it's nice they fixed it a little cause before it looked shitty

Its all about money. Everything. Even much of sexism/racism is about money.
Who gets bribed? Why the owners want to sell or convert.

@articsnow - well, in my town, there was a very popular campground and amusement park, well attended, and it was still closed by the city, which made most of the revenue from it, so that wouldn't necessarily work.

I've never been to Coney Island, as I am nowhere near it, but it looks beautiful. I wish they wouldn't tear it down.

'Petition government officials, attend rallies, and you too can help to Save Coney Island!"
Thats the whinney, complaining, immature way of doing it.
You want Conely Island saved... spend money there. There should be a line of people on all the rides and a line of people in front of the food stands.

why are they tearing down coney island?
-
great!

Coney Island is safe, and they are not tearing it down. You had just one land speculator trying to turn the page on amusements, and sold most of his land to the city, who is allowing Zamperla, a ride manufacturer place rides on the land Thor didnt want rides on

@dereckjohn007 You neglect to mention that a zoning change was pushed through the City Council last summer. No longer designated amusement land, most of Coney Island has been changed to a commercial designation. Furthermore, Thor still holds the majority of its property. Yes, it did sell about three acres (the former Astroland), but still owns lots between Surf Avenue and the Boardwalk.
