A request by Arthaslepeureux.
In 2011 there will be a motion picture adaptation of the Stephen King book It. I actually didn't think the TV miniseries was that bad an adaptation myself, but I am looking foreword to the kind of scares that modern technology can provide.
The story 'It' concerns a group of outcast kids who find themselves stalked and in some cases murdered by an evil supernatural monster who usually takes on the appearance of a clown, calling itself Pennywise. After it is finally banished they take an oath together to never break their fellowship and to destroy It if it should ever rise again. Years later, the kids all grown and with their separate lives receive the dreaded phone call: 'It's back'.
The miniseries stared Tim Curry as an amazingly freaky Pennywise. It skirted some of the more controversial issues (the oath of fellowship is done by having sex with the girl of the group in the book, in the TV series it's done by each taking a shot from a puffer) and left out a lot of scenes, but I think it kept the themes of camaraderie, childhood and the nature of fear intact despite the limitations of the time and the small budget. I hope the spirit of the novel and the series isn't extinguished behind splashy effects. The terror of the unknown is the driving force of the story and would work best with nagging suspense and psychological scares, to really drive home how unnerving 'It' truly is. The theme of old friends banding together and destroy a childhood evil is similar to Stephen King's other novel Dreamcatcher. I hope that we finally get a faithful and genuinely scary translation of his work come 2011.

  • Where is the real remake?

  • @roosevelthighschool

    You know...I don't know o_o

I REALLY hope they didn't give up to film that useless remake of The Thing :/

  • This was supposed to be scarier than the TV miniseries, but this looks like it just repeats the usual cliches of most horror movies these days. For my money, Tim Curry's Pennywise was one of the scariest villains of all time because he murders children, but he's also cute and comical. But this new Pennywise just looks like another incarnation of the masked killer, a la "Scream." I bet it'll have that requisite scene toward the end where the villain explains everything, too...

    Um...I edited this myself XD

  • I think the remake should focus on new aspects of telling the story like the house on nebilot street and the ritual of chud those were both turning points in the story but personally I think they need to up the violence make it completely genuine to the book

  • @ajdearment The 'new' clown you're talking about is from the movie Amusement and it is a masked killer. The killer is just crazy he has no reason to do it. So yeah... Besides it said in the title that the video is fake!

  • this is the movie amusement

  • Good Job. Apparently for the remake, they're going to concentrate on the other forms It took in the book, and not so much the clown. There's heaps of potential there, because in the book it took on other forms that were pretty scary, like the leper, and the giant bird. I wonder if they will work the turtle in? That might look silly on screen.

  • looked real to me

  • beeep beeeep rechie :-)

  • it look like killjoy

  • this is the real remake vid: youtube.com/watch?v=wdf2tqSy2zc type w ww . at the start u tube wont let me link

  • @bloodrunsclear It was not a remake, but a prequel.

  • I saw clips from "my bloodly valentine" and "strangers" and tons of other scary movies. It was still kind of cool tho

  • That actually looked pretty Good....I Do Hope they do a Remake but still With Tim Curry
