Left foot braking rules!!!
-
Quiroga Jr. is no match for Montoya
-
These stock cars use a standard H-pattern gearbox with straight cut gears and dog engagement shifting mechanisms. Since there aren't any synchros or helical cut gear teeth that need to get up to speed when shifting, the driver can simply shove the gear lever into the next gear, as everything in the transmission is spinning fast enough to be engaged.
The clutch is used on downshifts to prevent engine braking from locking up the rear wheels during corner entry.

thas a different type or transmission, not like the H pattern used in nascar, complte different animal

Great foot work....

yeah you can downshift like that on any manual tranny. synchros or not. pulling it out of gear doesnt hurt anything and you just match the revs and jam it down into gear. unlike heel toe, you have to match it perfectly though. you just need to make sure its pulled out of gear and in neutral when you hit the gas to match. dont try and do it too fast at first

ah good. he should of.

I heard its called "sequencal shifting". Were shift without using the clutch. There is a vid "onboard lap with boris said" that he shifts up without using the clutch, but downshifts with it. IDK its confusing.
I'm going to agree...
ferrari ftw.
...but regardless, how did he do in that race? being that he came from f1.

It was a crazy race, but he won in the end.
