FUCKIN BEST BAND IN AUSTRALIA OR THE WORLD FOR THAT MATTER.

@theselector as per comment, what i think anyway!

I believe they should have had more exposure O/S and Australia too, BUT when YAI toured with Oasis in Japan they fookin loved them!!! the Gallagher boys didn't miss a performance loved their 60's street smarts in the late 90's (they could play- other words), wanted to hang out with Tim, Andy & Russel but they weren't into it!!!! that's there decision. Supporting Oasis back then would have opened up avenues. After no.4 record I did loose interest. Cairns with Chisel soon!

theselector is so right. How often does a band come around that is equal parts The Who, Replacements, and The Kinks, and done right. I saw You Am I in Los Angeles once it was as good as can be imagined. Not to mention that the between song patter was as funny as anyone I've ever seen. He basically told the guys in the audience that there was a good chance he would be taking thier girlfriends home at the end of the evening. And it was loud, like it should be!

@drdognutz Probably not in the typical "corporate" sense of Lady Gaga or Idol contestants but I still think they wanted to be popular. Every band does otherwise what's the point? In their prime they toured with Oasis in Japan and the Gallagher Bros were blown away by their talent. It's true they had a certain attitude and an independent almost irreverent spirit about them but that's just Rock n Roll.

@theselector You're on the money mate! I grew up with these guys in the 90's. I remember the first time I saw Powderfinger was when they supported You Am I on national tour. You Am I gave many bands over the years a leg up into the scene! They are highly respected by ay many artists!

To be fair i think part of the appeal that these guys have is in their attitude and what they represent. Pop stardom was probablly not on top of the list... that is just one more thing that should be truly respected.

@dmcguire70 Every good Australian band sounds like it's influenced by the Saints.

goosebumps.
I used to play this song when I worked in KMART in the sound and vision section on every shift. Amazing song from a superb album.

You am I could've and should've been HUGE worldwide. Unfortunately Pop stardom is made up of many other variables other than just pure talent , which these guys had a TONNE of. They certainly had the tunes , the image and could play live BUT I think the promotion & marketing side let them down as probably their Management did. They should've given them much more media exposure & created more interest & excitement around the band. You can create great music but what's the point if no one knows..
