Big HPDE Crash at Pocono East Course Driving School on 5/5/06

Inexperienced driver in an Evo loses control when he takes two tires off the racing surface and overcorrects. Slams into a NSX and G35 that were on pit road waiting to go out in the next session. My brother and I were the first two cars that DID NOT get hit...missed his front bumper by about 18 inches. Track officials staged cars way to close to the track and should have kept us behind the wall until after session was completed. Fortunately, no one was hurt bad. More than $60k in damage to the three cars! After the wreck happens there are a few expletives (i.e holy s**t!, holy sh**t!, holy sh**t!)...my apologies for leaving them in...couldn't figure out how to edit audio track.

Quick question... What car did the driver kneeling on the ground in the end pictures belong to? The Evo?

And also, why would the organizers set the next session cars pretty much on the goddamn track?

The driver of the Evo IS the guy kneeling on the ground. Not sure why the organizers pit us so close to the active raceway. That's why the driver of the NSX got out of the car. We talked afterwards and he was worried about being strapped into his car there. Good this he's fast on his feet!

I'm sure they made some changes since then to the way they stage cars...but indeed a high price to pay for all of those involved!

This the organizers fault. Period. Never ever assume you are in safe spot. There is no such thing. I was shocked seeing how they let the drivers out of the cars that close to the track. Very poorly run.

The whole thing looks terrifying long before the crash ever happened. And, how does he pay for this? The insurance doesn't count on a race-course.

100% amateurism at its worst. Whoever was allegedly "in charge" of this thing has no business running a track day.

I'm particularly shocked at the dipshit in the blue and white driver's suit, shooting the breeze with his back to traffic in an obviously unprotected area.

I wouldn't mind so much, except that when idiots like this smear themselves along the pavement it makes things harder for others who don't have their heads jammed up their asses.

WOW!!! I thought there was a wall off camera to the left, if you look below the steering wheel and above the dash of the camera car, guess it wasn't a wall...

2 things really bother me here:

1. Like some posters have stated, why in F!@# were they staging cars right there on the side of the track like that, no wall?

2. The guy gets out of his evo and, after creaming some poor guy, checks HIS car? Douche...I'd be straight over to the car I hit like "DUDE!!! YOU OK?!?!?!"
