I started The Pencil Project, hoping to bring out educated successes into the real world. The goal of the project is to collect pencils and stationeries for needy schools. I shipped my collection to over 2000 children, in Lagos, Nigeria. After five months, I had a grand collection of over 17,500 new pencils, 5,000 erasers, 3,000 sharpeners, and 2,000 used pencils. I also raised over $7,500 in-kind and cash. I was awarded The Good Tidings Foundation Scholarship and I am a semifinalist for the Coca-Cola Scholars program. I am grateful that life has provided me the capability to make a difference one pencil at a time.
